On Thursday 23rd October Venerable Ogyen Drodul Dorje Rinpoche started the works for Phase One of the project. The ceremony was started by the Rinpoche and some of the monks from the monastery doing a small puja to bless the works and clear away any obstacles. The Rinpoche then struck the first blow and knocked down a small wall with a sledge hammer. This first phase will see the building of a 3 storey house to accommodate the monks. It is expected to take around 6 months to complete. The Rinpoche stated that it was a very historic day and a milestone for the Academy.
